About us

It all started back in 1958…

History

417 Bus Line has a proud history as a family-owned and operated company. Founded in 1958 by Jean-Paul Laplante, the company was first known as Laplante Bus Lines, then Casselman Bus Line, before incorporating in 1974 as 417 Bus Line Limited.

Jean-Paul’s sons, Yvon, Marc, Mario, and Gilles took over leadership in 1993. They built on their father’s legacy, further developing the family-centric culture and company. In 2010, in order to meet growing transportation demands, 417 Bus Line Limited constructed a purpose-built facility in Casselman’s industrial park. This state-of-the-art facility positioned 417 Bus Line Limited to serve regional schools, while offering intercommunity transportation and charter services, for years to come.

In January 2022, Roxborough Bus Lines Ltd. acquired 417 Bus Line Limited. The acquisition of 417 Bus Line Ltd. saw the creation of The Roxborough Group — a company committed to offering a full range of passenger transportation solutions including school bus transportation, commuter transportation, and 56-passenger motor coach services that serve clients across North America.

On June 30, 2023, Switzer-CARTY Transportation acquired Roxborough Bus Lines and 417 Bus Line. Founded in 2011 by Jim Switzer and Doug Carty, two veteran transportation and school bus industry executives, the company provides home-to-school transportation and charter services to a diverse set of customers. By acquiring Roxborough and 417, Switzer-CARTY is poised to strengthen its service offerings and to expand reach across Ontario, and beyond!
